We are moving the home tour upstairs! First up is Toby's room, solely because he was first to give me permission to share his room with you.
When we were planning our move, we had many discussions about how to assign kids to bedrooms. Eli quickly took the smallest bedroom, in part because its diminutive size meant it couldn't be shared on any capacity. It is his little oasis as the only teen in our house and will most likely be the next room in our home tour.
The biggest bedroom was going to be a shared bedroom; the remaining kid bedroom was going to be half bedroom, half Lego room. As the Lego room, this bedroom would be open to all family members during daylight hours. Because Ish wanted a roommate and because there are Legos that Julian still needs supervision with, our discussions eventually led us to Toby taking the Lego room.
Come on in!
Toby is a man of routine and order. He gets up, makes his bed, and opens his curtains before leaving his room each morning. (His clock is set four minutes fast, providing him with a self-created time cushion.)
Under his bed are trays full of in-action Lego creations, such as the the baseball fields, football field, archery range, and race cars. The boys have split the entire room into Lego regions that I don't fully understand but they of course do.
Drum corner! Toby's (large) instrument of choice was another reason why he ended up this room's tenant. For Christmas, he received drum sticks that bring his practicing to a comfortable volume level, and we love listening to his progress (from outside his room).
