From Eli: The Lego College Basketball Tournament, Round 1

While Henry J. Fraund, Joel Enrique-Yen, Totomiey Reouff and others battle it out for the title of President, the Lego people are also up to something else.  Incumbent President Blue inspired the very first Lego college basketball tournament!  With a field of 6 teams, this double-elimination competition has become a great way for the Lego people to have fun!  (Of course, Toby and Eli are having fun, too.)  Today, the North Cocoa University Coffee and the South Cocoa State University Flyers battled it out in the first round to try to gain the right to play the Police University Whistlers in the second round.  (Yes, those abbreviations work out to be UNC and SCST, as in North Carolina and South Carolina State, and Police University's bracket name would be the Police Whistlers.)  Below are some pictures from the North Cocoa and South Cocoa State game.

The court is ready for the game while LEGO Arena's stands are completed.  57 people would attend the game, with thirteen in the luxurious box suites.

The completed arena is packed with people awaiting the tip-off.  To see who won, read below...

FINAL IN OVERTIME
South Cocoa State Flyers 86, North Cocoa Coffee 85

Recap
In an intense first round game, the North Cocoa Coffee fell to the South Cocoa State Flyers despite C. Worke's 15 overtime points.  The Flyers, led by Cody Tiwono's 53-point performance, held on to their lead, which was 9 with 31 seconds remaining in overtime.  7'4" Julian Slip made 5 free throws late.  C. Foreman led the Coffee with 36 points, while Surfer Boy added 13.
The Flyers will advance to play the Police Whistlers.  The Coffee drop down to the consolation bracket, awaiting the loser of today's Spectrum versus North Cocoa State game.

Later, the Spectrum Lights played the North Cocoa State Smalls.  The winner would play the South Cocoa Divers, while the loser would play the Coffee.  Below are some pictures from this game.

You can see that many people are excited about the next game, as well.  President Blue is in attendance again, and saw his own brother score 14 points.

A record 58 people attended, and it was a good game all the way through.  But of course, there had to be a winner...

FINAL
North Cocoa State Smalls 81, Spectrum Lights 78

Recap
With 0.1 seconds left, Enwezor Sünd needed to draw up a game-winning play.  With the tie, he did just so.  Breo, a 3'9" shooting guard took a long three that ended in a buzzer-beater.  He scored 47 points, and along with Little Boy's 20, they accounted for most of their team's points.  The Lights were led by Little Boy's Sister, with 37 points, while Little Boy's Brother scored 19.  The Smalls led the entire game.
The Smalls will advance to play the South Cocoa Divers, and the Lights will play the North Cocoa Coffee in the consolation bracket tomorrow.

I hope you enjoy these upcoming updates from our college basketball tournament!  We will have more updates for you!
