A few weekends ago, the parents and Eli had an overnight trip to NYC to celebrate Eli's 10-year milestone. The younger brothers are in bed early tonight, so we thought we'd get cozy on the couch and share some of our favorite pictures!
We left at 6 am on a Friday morning and were in Central Park for lunchtime: E's first NYC hot dog.*
Then we were off to the American Museum of Natural History.
Inside, we saw many things, such as this life-size blue whale. (From the mama: on a date back in the day, Mark took me to the museum specifically to see this huge whale. He seemed to marvel just as much this time as back then.)
Eli quote in the museum moment: "This is just so much fun, isn't it?"
We then headed over to Central Park. Eli got to tour Belvedere Castle, an NOAA Weather Station. He also achieved his goal of swinging in one of the 23 playgrounds found in Central Park.
And then we were off to John's Pizzeria to treat Eli to (what we think is) THE BEST PIZZA EVER.
Ok, so in full disclosure, he did like it but found it too greasy.
From there, we hit Times Square and Rockefeller Center. Times Square was Eli's least favorite location - too busy! We did get to hit the M&M and LEGO stores, though. And then we happily/sleepily walked to our hotel, which Mark and Eli had researched together and found for a great deal.
Breakfast was bagels, which Eli WILL agree with us are THE BEST BAGELS EVER. The 'rents had much needed coffee, because we were headed into a full day of sight-seeing. First up, the Statue of Liberty.
Next, the World Trade Center.
The view of the North Pool in the National September 11th Memorial. The green tree on the other side is the Survivor Tree.
WALL STREET! (At school, Eli is currently in the midst of an online stock market game for kids, so stopping here was a must!)
We ended our day with the Empire State Building's 86th floor observation deck.
It was a great trip!
*All of this trip was made possible by Eli's vast knowledge of the NYC subway system. Never have we felt so confident getting where we needed to be.
