Rest.

I find myself walking into the bedroom regularly, just to be there for a moment.  Even though balls can be found in every corner and the dust is always the thickest there, it is a calm place to me.  The sun through the curtain, the fuzzy bedspread, the half-finished books on the side - I just want to linger.

Most likely, there is a subconscious layer to its draw.  It is, after all, a room that symbolizes sleep (something we have been lacking in as we work out some of Julian's reflux/food allergy realities).  But it is also the work space where boys fold laundry, Julian's favorite trampoline, the place where boys' nightmares lose their grip.

"We find rest in the incompleteness of the present moment as we learn to recognize the goodness of what is and we trust that what is needed for the future will be added at the proper time." ~Sally Breedlove

Life is intermixed with kids, dreams, holding patterns, comfort, nightmares, self-sacrifice of both the willing and the no-choice-in-the-matter kinds.  Yet in the midst of the hodge-podge, in the midst of what can be deemed "incomplete", there is rest to be found.  It is based on trust and calls me to linger.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28

(Today warranted a nap together.  My napping imprint is to J's right.  Glorious.)
